Director, Counsel - Employment Responsibilities: Assisting management and human resources associates on proactive compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and helping to develop appropriate policies, processes, and procedures. Handling employment arbitrations from the outset to conclusion, including but not limited to, initial investigation, drafting pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and representing the company at the arbitration hearing. Handling directly and/or managing outside counsel on employment litigation matters. Providing employment law counseling to assist internal business partners on all issues related to the employment relationship. Working with internal clients on employment projects, initiatives, and trainings that involve employment law matters. Proactively working to resolve potential employment matters through investigation to resolution, where appropriate. Handling employment matters involving federal, state, and local government agencies. Depending on where the role is based, regular travel to the corporate office in NJ will be required, along with occasional travel as needed for legal matters (subject to the Company's safety rules).

Qualifications: JD Degree from an ABA accredited law school is required. Must be a member of at least the California bar, with the ability to obtain New Jersey in-house certification if not admitted in New Jersey. 8+ years as an attorney specializing in employment law and related litigation/arbitration, and extensive knowledge of employment law. In-depth knowledge of CA-specific employment law required. A collaborative team player.
