Managing Counsel - Environmental and Regulatory Compliance Duties: Advise Lucid engineers, technical staff, government relations staff, and management on laws and regulations applicable to battery electric vehicles, including regulations of EPA, NHTSA, CARB, and other state agencies, and related Canadian, European and international regulations. Advise and represent Lucid in connection with the generation and trading of credits under EPA's Greenhouse Gas, vehicle emissions, and Renewable Fuel Standards programs, NHTSA's Corporate Average Fuel Economy program, CARB's Zero Emission Vehicle, Low Emission Vehicle, Low Carbon Fuel Standards programs, and related state as well as international emissions credit trading programs. Advice and assist in the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures for Lucid's credit trading program. Monitor and review proposed laws and regulations. Prepare, review, and submit Lucid's comments in rulemakings and other regulatory filings, related documents, and lobbying efforts. Represent Lucid before federal and state authorities, agencies, administrative tribunals, and courts in regulatory matters. Advise and represent Lucid in miscellaneous EPA matters. Assist in advising Lucid engineers, technical staff, government relations staff, and management on safety laws and regulations applicable to vehicles, including the FMVSS, NCAP, and other NHTSA programs, FCC, FDA, other federal and state and international requirements. Assist the development and implementation of strategies, policies, procedures, and training for compliance with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Act and vehicle safety regulations, and continuous improvement of the company's vehicle safety program. Draft, review, and negotiate legal and strategic agreements. Partner with business teams to provide advice and creative solutions to complex problems and identify legal requirements and best practices. Work seamlessly and collaboratively within the legal team and as a legal business partner to multiple internal business stakeholders.
Qualifications: Law degree (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited institution. Admitted to practice law in the United States. 8 years of substantive legal experience as regulatory compliance counsel to an automotive manufacturer in a corporate legal department, government agency, or reputable law firm. Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to effectively relay complex information in a concise format. Practical business judgment. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and independently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-faceted projects. Proven track record of learning quickly, taking initiative, working proactively, being resourceful, and taking on additional responsibility.
