Intellectual Property Counsel for Diagnostics Duties: Be an integral part of the laboratory diagnostics business and drive decisions concerning IP issues together with the business leadership, R&D organization, business development, strategy, and legal department. Develop and drive the implementation of an IP strategy for the business line, including the preparation, filing, and prosecution of patents, trademarks, or copyright applications internally and via outside counsel. Ensure freedom to operate by the implementation of appropriate defensive IP measures and by providing expert legal advice in connection with product IP clearances and patent investigations Actively support IP litigations and M&A transactions (and associated due diligence activities) for the business line as necessary.
Qualifications: Juris Doctor from an Accredited Institution. Admission to practice in a U.S. state and before the USPTO. Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in molecular biology, biology, or biochemistry from an accredited institution. 6+ years as a practicing attorney specializing in intellectual property, including IP-related contract work, with 2+ years in an in-house legal department. Experience and/or background in vitro diagnostics technology is preferred. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Ability to interact effectively. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, small-team environment with a willingness to expand skillsets. Ability to successfully complete projects and assignments and provide support to R&D and business leadership, in a global environment. Outstanding organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple competing demands. Creative problem solver.
