Product and Privacy Counsel Duties: Assist in the development, implementation of's data sourcing, compliance and product development programs in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, including major privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and plan for forthcoming laws such as the California CPRA, Colorado Privacy Act, and Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act. Advise on international data sourcing and compliance; work with outside counsel in regions such as Japan, India, Indonesia, China, and Brazil. Draft and negotiate data licenses and other partnership agreements with key strategic vendors that are critical to our business. Provide advice to our strategic partnerships and product teams during the development lifecycle to minimize legal risks, ensure compliance with applicable laws, and advance business goals. Monitor new policy developments that may affect our strategic partnerships and product teams; advise teams on potential impacts. Drive awareness on data privacy and security issues, including development of training, policies, and guidelines that help business stakeholders spot and address data protection and privacy issues as they emerge in development of new products and technologies. Build and enhance the legal team's processes, efficiency, compliance framework and best practices. Serve as the go-to subject matter expert related to privacy, data protection and compliance on calls with customers. Advise cross-functional teams on developing a data governance program. Provide expertise for special projects, including M&As, new product lines, and more. Develop a risk ranking matrix for our strategic partnerships team to gauge where to focus efforts when obtaining new relationships. Create and implement a best-in-class global data privacy & protection program that can scale with the business. Qualifications: Active membership in good standing with the NY State Bar and/or have the ability to practice in New York state as an in-house attorney and a J.D. or LLM from a top U.S. law school. CIPP certification is strongly preferred. Should have 1-3 years of legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department (preferred), with a focus on technology transactions and/or privacy and data protection issues. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills can convey complex concepts in simple terms. Strong research skills and a history of mastering a topic when advising on it.
