Associate Counsel - Litigation The candidate will assist in the management of civil litigation matters globally in a wide variety of practice areas, including products liability, trade secrets, idea theft, securities, contract, employment, intellectual property, and more. With the oversight of the Expert Counsel Litigation, partner with and advise in-house clients to reduce risk and avoid disputes. Assist in the management of outside counsel relationships, including staffing, case strategy, budgets, and more. Assist in the management of ADR proceedings and settlement negotiations. Gather, review, and assemble evidence in response to discovery, including electronic discovery, and respond to third-party subpoenas and other similar requests/demands. Product safety knowledge, including experience with product recalls and interactions with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, is a plus.
The candidate should have 3-5 years as an attorney with pertinent experience at a top law firm or an in-house law department, including handling a wide variety of litigation matters at every stage of litigation (including depositions, dispositive motions, discovery, and trial). A JD and strong academic credentials. State Bar qualification and good standing. Admission in California preferred. Ability to identify issues and evaluate their broader implications for the business; interact with clients at all levels; provide timely, practical legal advice and solutions; and communicate effectively in person and in writing. Ability to work independently and proactively, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of issues and matters through their successful conclusion. Leadership and organization skills, including planning, prioritization, and time management. Ability to work as part of the broader Law Department, working cooperatively with colleagues and maintaining a professional demeanor. Unwavering integrity, and a commitment to the principles of diversity and inclusion. Ability and willingness to develop expertise in other topics to meet the needs of a dynamic business and Law Department.
