Staff Attorney - Legal Services - General Litigation The candidate will assist other members of the Law Department in representing the Company before City, State, and Federal courts and administrative agencies involving personal injury and property damage cases. Handle moderately complex matters, with supervision. Under the supervision of senior attorneys, to perform litigation activities and other assigned matters involving the Company. Conduct research and prepare legal memoranda for other attorneys. Draft pleadings, basic motions, and discovery demands/responses. Appear and represent the Company at court conferences and argue motions in New York State courts (Supreme Court, Civil Court, and Small Claims Court) and Federal Court. Identify and become knowledgeable about relevant legal issues. Identify relevant witnesses, evidence, and documents. Learn how to conduct and defend witness depositions. Provide representation, advice, and support for the company on matters of low to moderate complexity or significance, with supervision. Assists in providing general legal advice to client organizations. Assist in providing legal representation, advice, or support for the company on matters of moderate to high complexity or significance. Provide support for other Law Department groups. Perform other related tasks and assignments as required. Under the supervision of senior attorneys, to perform more complex litigation activities and other assigned matters involving the Company. Identify and become knowledgeable about relevant issues. Identify relevant witnesses and documents. Gather facts to defend the Company through witness interviews. Document review and other thorough fact-finding techniques, using the support of company investigators and paralegals, where appropriate. Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda. Conduct legal research relevant to the scope of responsibility, prepare and respond to discovery, and utilize motion practice. Assist in providing legal representation, advice, and support for the company on matters of moderate complexity or significance, with supervision. Represent the company in depositions, hearings, and trials in New York State courts and Federal Court, as needed. Appear and represent the company at court conferences and argue motions. Provide support to other Law Department groups. Should have Juris Doctorate from recognized/ accredited Law School. Must be an attorney in good standing admitted to the New York Bar. Required Should have 2 years of work experience. Must have 2 years of relevant legal experience.
