Assistant General Counsel, Intellectual Property

Assistant General Counsel, Intellectual Property The candidate will report directly to the Vice President & Deputy General Counsel, Intellectual Property and Privacy. Assist in managing intellectual property matters, including formulating, re-assessing and driving innovation and IP strategy. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Company's organizational structure, business operations and policies & procedures in order to identify and assess areas of IP opportunity and risk. Provide advice regularly on IP matters to the Chief Legal Officer, Deputy General Counsels, other attorneys and business managers and team members. Directly handle or work with outside counsel to drive strategic IP procurement and the management of the Company's intellectual property rights, including patent and trademark prosecution, licensing transactions, transaction due diligence assessments, freedom-to-operate and clearance reviews, infringement and validity analyses, and IP risk evaluation and mitigation strategies. Work closely with litigation team to enforce the Company's IP rights and to defend the Company in various types of IP-related litigation. Develop and/or deliver IP-related training programs to foster innovation, facilitate compliance, educate business team members and reduce the risk of future claims and/or litigation. Perform such other duties as requested by the Vice President & Deputy General Counsel, IP and Privacy. The candidate should have a J.D. degree from a leading law school, with excellent academic credentials. Member in good standing, of at least one US State Bar. If licensed outside the State of Florida, admission to the Florida Bar as In-House Counsel is required. Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Should have 10+ years of experience in intellectual property portfolio creation, strategy, and counseling. Experience in software-related patents, software licensing, data rights, and data privacy a plus. Demonstrated experience and strong track record of success in Building & leveraging global IP portfolios, Developing & implementing global IP strategies or initiatives, both substantive & operational, Driving innovation and new IP rights, Building effective relationships, communicating & collaborating across organizations among various stakeholders, and IP transfers and transaction due diligence.
