Corporate Counsel, Payments The candidate will advise the business on regulatory and compliance matters, structure, draft and negotiate commercial agreements related to domestic and international payment and credit/lending products, and provide ongoing legal counseling on a wide range of matters. Should have a J.D. and membership in good standing in at least one State Bar. Should have 6+ years of legal experience (with at least 3 years at a law firm). Experience advising on US consumer credit and commercial lending laws, and any applicable consumer protection regulations, including but not limited to ECOA/Regulation B, TILA/Regulation Z, Fair Credit Reporting Act/Regulation V, Electronic Funds Transfers/Regulation E, and UDAAP. Experience monitoring and advising on state licensing requirements, including preparing and maintaining license applications. A strong transaction mix of product, privacy and regulatory experience is ideal. Experience interfacing with state and federal regulatory agencies, serving as the legal point of contact for examinations, audits, submissions, and regulatory communications is preferred. Experience advising on consumer credit and commercial lending laws of non-US jurisdictions (particularly UK/EU) is a plus. Experience technology, payments or financial services transactions is a plus. Excellent analytical, written and oral communication, and client communication skills. Ability to demonstrate sound legal and business judgment even in ambiguous situations. Ability to work independently and also contribute successfully to cross-functional teams. Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, and meet deadlines. Common sense and great judgment.
