Associate General Counsel, Privacy

Associate General Counsel, Privacy The candidate will develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data use and global privacy laws (including state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws, GDPR, LGPD, ePrivacy and other global privacy laws) and advise on the impact of the same on 's business. Work closely with product lawyers in evaluating the practical impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product features and development/long term strategy. Support members of 's product, engineering, legal, security, policy, and other business teams on data use, privacy and security-related legal matters. Develop regulatory strategy with relevant privacy regulators in connection with new product features and initiatives and maintain 's ongoing privacy-by-design processes. Manage internal privacy compliance programs and processes to ensure meet the obligations under those programs Help to develop and conduct role-specific privacy trainings. Help to develop and conduct role-specific privacy trainings. Should have a J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and active membership in at least one US state bar. Experience advising on privacy legal risks and mitigations, with knowledge of relevant global privacy laws (including CCPA, GDPR, ePD, LGPD, etc.), and/or privacy regulations. Must have 8+ years of practicing legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience. Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and making judgments under deadlines. Experience working independently, quickly and accurately to assess legal, practical, and business risks, and provide clear guidance. Experience collaborating and advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment. Business judgment and practical client counseling experience, particularly with product launches that implicate data collection, processing and protection. In-house or government experience with applicable privacy, regulatory, or product counseling, particularly at a technology, social media or messaging company.
