Vice President and Corporate Counsel Responsibilities: Partnering with internal stakeholders and management teams to draft, review, negotiate, and advise on commercial contracts, managing outside counsel where appropriate. Working with legal and business teams in connection with due diligence and transaction support for financing, investment, and corporate transactions. Assisting in the development and implementation of best practices with respect to corporate and property operations, regulatory compliance, and investor reporting. Working with legal and executive teams on matters of corporate governance, including board meetings, resolutions, and transaction approvals. Advising asset and property management teams on residential and commercial landlord-tenant matters; drafting leases, amendments, and related documentation; managing outside counsel where appropriate. Will be part of a risk-management team, helping to source appropriate insurance products to protect corporate and real estate assets, and helping to develop and enhance CASL's risk-mitigation strategies. Providing advice, support, and training to business teams on matters of legal and regulatory significance, including intellectual property, employment and employee-relations matters, and landlord-tenant matters; draft agreements and policies concerning same. Assisting on litigation matters; supervising outside counsel as needed.
Qualifications: Law degree from a nationally accredited university. Admission to at least one state Bar (preferably Illinois, New York, or California). 3+ years of general corporate or real estate experience in a large law firm setting, or in-house with a mid-sized or large company. Strong organizational and analytical skills, high attention to detail, flexibility, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-focused environment. Exceptional written communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and effectively about complicated legal issues with team members at all levels of the organization.
