Corporate Attorney - Global Compliance Officer Duties: The candidate will oversee the design and implementation of a mature and in-depth compliance program, covering a range of traditional compliance subject matters ranging from anti-corruption, competition/antitrust, data protection/privacy and information security, sanctions, and trade compliance among others. Support implementation and communication of the Masonite Values Guide and provide ongoing integrity training and assistance in responding to compliance inquiries, and with investigation and resolution of any integrity issues that may arise. Work with members of functional and segment leadership teams to develop annual and quarterly compliance plans, operating reviews, and compliance KPIs to support business and compliance priorities. Develop, communicate, deploy and monitor compliance policies, processes, and training on complying with global competition/antitrust laws. Design and administer an enterprise-wide privacy program ensuring the organization's policies and procedures comply with regulatory and ethical standards regarding the proper collection, use, protection, process, and sharing of personally identifiable information. Own and maintain the organization's global data protection compliance procedures, updating policies and guidance, centralizing processes, and putting in place robust, time-bound enhancement plans where necessary. Inform and advise internal functional groups on data privacy developments across the world, including EU GDPR, China PIPL, California CCPA, Brazil LGPD, Singapore PDPA, and others. Identify and evaluate known and potential privacy risks and compliance risks across the organization, and its subsidiaries, develop proper controls to mitigate the risk and conduct ongoing compliance monitoring to ensure compliance. Partner with all key business areas, in particular sales, marketing, and IT security, to ensure data privacy issues are considered at the outset of new projects, products, and initiatives. Negotiate data security and privacy provisions in a wide variety of commercial transactions. Handle inquiries and issues relating to data privacy practices, withdrawal of consent, the right to be forgotten, and related rights. Assist SVP, and General Counsel with various legal matters and perform other tasks as assigned from time to time. Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the Company; Regularly interact with executives and senior managers in connection with matters of significance to the organization.
Qualifications: The candidate should have a J.D. degree from an accredited US law school. Should have 5+ years of experience practicing as an attorney; Law firm experience required, in-house experience preferred. Member in good standing of a State Bar Association. Strong negotiation and decision-making. Self-starter who is open-minded embraces technology and thrives in a dynamic environment. Solid knowledge of key corporate compliance laws, regulations, and guidance including but not limited to, global anti-corruption, data privacy, antitrust, anti-bribery, economic sanctions, etc. Capable of spotting compliance issues and correspondingly strong ability to provide solutions or paths to resolution. Ability to understand complicated laws and regulations and translate them into practical, business-oriented legal advice. Leadership skills and emotional intelligence. Executive, board room presence. Outstanding communication to all levels of the organization and outside parties. Excels under pressure, willing to go the extra mile in a constantly changing environment. Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with little supervision. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the team, customers, and vendors. Well-versed in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Positive attitude and ethics. A team player who supports the company's values and culture.
