US Employment Senior Counsel Duties: The candidate will act as a legal advisor and educator regarding US federal, state, and local employment laws with an emphasis on compliance by design and risk mitigation strategies. Provide legal advice and strategic support regarding NLRA compliance and other labor relations issues. Provide legal expertise to resolve complex employee relations and pre-litigation matters. Advice regarding FLSA employment classifications and independent contractor status. Design and execute regulatory and compliance initiatives regarding employment laws, including the development of policies, guidelines, training, processes, templates, and toolkits. Manage and oversee outside counsel relationships. Support V&A activities and integration affecting assigned workforces. Stay abreast of legal developments affecting the company, its clients, and industries and synthesize the information to direct the company's practices. Foster seamless integration and teaming relationships with the other Legal Services teams.
Required Qualifications: A Law Degree / Juris Doctor. Active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction. Should have 10 years of experience practicing employment law as an attorney. Should have 5 years of labor relations experience with a primary focus on working with a unionized workforce. Preferred Qualifications: Experience advising management of large companies. Ability to work with personnel both internally and externally across the world. Experience assessing worker classifications, including strong working knowledge of the FLSA and independent contractor law. Experience conducting HR audits. In-depth knowledge of labor and employment law across the United States, with a particular focus on the NLRA. Demonstrates sound judgment, ability to prioritize and make decisions, and identify risks. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to influence senior leaders with a strong executive presence. Able to present innovative, original, and compliant solutions. Responsive and follows through on commitments, with a sense of urgency. Strong time management, prioritization, and ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently. Highly organized with attention to accuracy and detail. Self-directed with the ability to work independently as well as within teams. Ability to work in a matrixed leadership environment and as a strong cross-functional partner. Demonstrated leadership in professional setting; either military or civilian. Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting; either military or civilian.
