Global Privacy Counsel Duties: Ensure that GRAIL complies with global, federal and state privacy laws and regulation such as HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA. Help run data access and governance programs. Conduct training to relevant business units on privacy and cybersecurity law requirements. Support building privacy-by-design into products, systems, and processes. Advise internal clients on the development, collection, use, transfer and governance of data; counsel and guide product management, development, engineering, and marketing teams on privacy and data protection. Collaborate with team members in drafting and/or enhancing privacy policies and standards; assist with conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments and other risk assessment activity as needed. Review, draft and negotiate business associate agreements, data protection and sharing agreements, and security exhibits and work closely with the appropriate teams to advise on third party risk reviews. Help lead GRAIL's privacy audit program. Track and counsel clients on legal developments in areas of data privacy (including changes to data protection laws) and guiding business teams through application of and implications of such developments. Serve as legal lead for all privacy and security incidents, working closely with the company's Privacy Officer, CISO and other key stakeholders. Qualifications: JD Degree and admitted to practice law in any US state or territory. 8+ years relevant experience in the areas of data privacy and protection, negotiating data privacy related agreements and understanding of the interplay between technology and data privacy. Experienced knowledge of HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR and other global, US federal, and state laws. Previous experience in a life sciences, healthcare, or laboratory in-house role is preferred. CIPP/US, CIPP/E or CIPM certification from the International Associations of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) a plus.
