Assistant General Counsel, Legal - Intellectual Property The candidate will lead the day-to-day management and strategic development of the global intellectual property portfolio with minimal direct supervision, in partnership with internal stakeholders and external counsel as needed. Draft, review and negotiate intellectual property provisions of various agreements, including licensing, commercial, technology, employment and other corporate agreements. Assist internal teams in clearing third-party intellectual property matters, and conducting due diligence reviews on M&A transactions, substantial collaborations, and other strategic initiatives. Drive brand protection by working with internal teams to implement trademark strategy, including the review of advertising, marketing, and social media strategies. Coordinate with internal teams and external counsel on enforcement activities, including cease and desist correspondence, litigation, and administrative proceedings at the USPTO. Engage with engineering and other internal teams in evaluating internal inventions for patent consideration and aligning patent strategies with business goals. Counsel executives and senior leadership on intellectual property-related opportunities and risks, emphasizing a pragmatic, business-oriented approach to problem-solving. Develop and implement internal processes, procedures and training centered on intellectual property identification and protection.

The candidate should have 8 years as a practicing attorney specializing in intellectual property, with at least 2 years in an in-house legal department handling both trademark and patent-related matters; USPTO registration in good standing is preferred. Advising on, drafting, and negotiating intellectual property provisions contained in a broad range of agreements, and coordinating intellectual property workflow in relation to the management of a global portfolio consisting of trademarks and patents. Effectively joining forces with internal and external stakeholders, including Litigation, Compliance, Procurement, Marketing, and Engineering, Exhibiting excellent business judgment and strategic thinking. Comfortably and confidently advising and interacting with executives and senior leaders, and having a demonstrated ability to earn their confidence and serve as a trusted advisor. Displaying excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and keen attention to detail. Thriving as part of a collaborative and fun team committed to delivering white-glove client service in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. Being able to work independently and collaboratively and manage multiple projects in an efficient and timely manner.
