Associate General Counsel- Labor and Employment RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide legal advice and services on a broad array of issues, focusing on healthcare regulation and contract drafting/negotiation; advise management on recent changes in laws and regulations. Advise the General Counsel and the Chief Human Resources Officer on labor and employment-related matters, including, employee relations issues, wage and hour law, workers compensation, unemployment and other state agency claims, labor relations, employee benefits, employment agreements and policy-related issues, FMLA matters, employment-related litigation, grievances and arbitrations. Act as a liaison between and governmental agencies such as the state and federal Departments of Labor. Draft, review, analyze and negotiate various contacts and agreements with internal business leaders and outside vendors/consultants; coordinate with internal recruiters to draft, review and negotiate physician employment agreements; manage the work and relationships with outside counsel. Draft, review and revise RRH policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school. Admission to and good standing with the New York bar or another State with the ability to be admitted in New York on a motion for reciprocity. Should have 5-8 years of professional legal experience in a law firm or the legal department of a large health system. Experience in handling labor and employment matters before federal, state courts, and administrative agencies is preferred. Experience in counseling clients on labor and employment matters is desired.
