Senior Data Privacy Counsel The candidate will manage complex privacy initiatives in coordination with involved stakeholders to ensure privacy policies are correctly implemented and that new product offerings meet our privacy and data protection requirements. Manage and mature our privacy controls (privacy by design, data registries, etc.) to continuously improve the privacy and data governance programs. Draft and negotiate privacy and data protection agreements with our customers, partners and vendors (e.g., SCCs and DPAs for SaaS and partnership agreements). Conduct diligence of privacy laws, regulations and guidance. Advise internal stakeholders on privacy and data protection, risk and risk mitigation. Should have a Juris Doctorate with 4+ years of relevant legal experience; CIPP/E or CIPP/US. Member in good standing of the New York State Bar or registered as in-house counsel; other state bar membership considered. Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and/or developing a business-enabling privacy program, preferably in a control compliance framework (ISO, SOC, etc.). Experience negotiating and drafting commercial privacy agreements. Expertise in one or more global privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CSL, state breach laws). Understanding of SaaS technologies and/or Life Sciences business is helpful. Agility and a growth mindset; willingness to learn new things and broaden areas of expertise. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and to adapt quickly to change. A keen business sense, the skills to find creative solutions to legal issues, and the ability to effectively balance legal risk against business interests. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to collaborate with multiple teams simultaneously, and to communicate with technologists and other non-privacy practitioners about complex privacy regimes.
