Counsel, Global Insurance and Reinsurance Duties: Perform and track underwriting sanctions screening, including developing and revising sanctions compliance policies and training presentations. Assist in training and monitoring compliance of operating guidelines. Assist in product development for underwriters and drafting manuscript treaty forms. Liaise with finance, accounting and IT departments to ensure completion of company-wide initiatives. Responsible for reviewing and revising global reinsurance and insurance treaties and associated agreements to comply with internal requirements and standards. Draft and negotiate ancillary (re)insurance documents, including commutations, novations, trusts, nondisclosure agreements and consulting and service agreements to comply with internal requirements and standards. Assist on high level and complex company-wide projects or group legal projects. Keep abreast of issues related to global (re)insurance, compliance matters, international policies and emerging issues (e.g., global trade sanctions, reinsurance collateral requirements and trust-related agreements). Qualifications: Law degree from accredited U.S. law school. Must be a member of a U.S. State Bar. Should have 5 years of legal experience (in-house and/or private practice at a large national/international law firm). Must have 2 years of specific experience in insurance and reinsurance with a focus on regulatory and corporate matters. Strong legal research and writing skills and proficiency with LexisNexis, NILS, Bermuda, and U.S. state and federal regulatory resources. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Strong organizational and managerial skills. Ability to work in the Summit, NJ office in a hybrid work model, three days in the office, two remote.
