Legal Privacy Counsel Duties: Acting as privacy legal point of contact for the appropriate business and functional leaders and their teams, informing them of their privacy compliance obligations pursuant to privacy policies and applicable data protection law. Supporting the implementation of the Central Privacy Compliance Program to facilitate compliance of the relevant business or function assigned with Privacy policy/standards and applicable data protection laws. Providing expert support and consultancy to promote and facilitate privacy compliance. Implementing, overseeing, and monitoring Central Privacy Compliance Program activities, such as policies and procedures, standards, guidelines, and tools, within the relevant business or function assigned to you. Drafting and supporting the implementation of privacy notices, consent statements, data retention standards and other privacy compliance controls within your relevant business or function. Identifying personal data processing activities carried out by the relevant business or function assigned to you and execute privacy compliance assessments (when required), maintaining up to date processing registry (Controller and Processor) of the relevant business or function and driving and embedding privacy by design controls into the business processes, quality management systems, products and propositions of your relevant business or function. Identifying specific training needs, creating, and delivering privacy training to the Responsible Executives (or their delegates) and to personnel of the relevant business or function with permanent or regular access to personal data or who is anyhow involved in the processing of personal data. When required by internal standards/procedures, provide privacy legal support in the due diligence of third parties (such as when selecting third party Processors or during M&A transactions). Act as Privacy Investigation Lead in response to potential personal data breaches per established protocol and documentation requirements. When needed, participate in the improvement of the Central Privacy Compliance Program by actively leading or working within a team project (e.g., for the implementation of a new privacy law in the relevant business or function assigned to), providing feedback and/or recommending enhancements.
Qualifications: Bachelors or Master's degree, U.S. JD Degree, EU LLB and/or LLM (required) and 5 + years experience within a legal or compliance role in the field of privacy and data protection. Knowledge of EU and U.S. data protection regulatory requirements. Certified International Privacy Professional Certification or equivalent (preferred). Ability to perform high-level work on a wide variety of data privacy matters and willing to take rational but bold decisions under time pressure. Ability to work independently and be a strong team player. Excellent client management and communication skills, both written and verbal (ability to communicate in Dutch is a plus). Results and customer oriented, organized, and able to prioritize, continuous improvement mindset. Knowledge and understanding of technology-related law and clinical research (a plus).
