Corporate Counsel - Cyber and Data Privacy Responsibilities: Advise and partner with the regional organization as a subject matter expert, providing it with appropriate advice and guidance, with the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with diverse cross-functional needs on US state and federal cybersecurity/data privacy legislation/regulation, and international laws and regulations including but not limited to GLBA, CCPA, CPRA, FCRA, HIPAA, and international GDPR, LGPD, CSL and industry requirements (e.g., IAB, PCI, ISO, HITRUST, NIST), audits and regulatory inquires and examinations, case law, frameworks and best practices and facilitate the implementation of compliance initiatives and related Company policies and practices. Track and drive awareness to the organization of data privacy legal and business developments, understanding and interpreting existing and proposed federal and state privacy laws and regulations, including the ability to evaluate legislative proposals and language and represent the organization's information privacy interests with external parties. Provide guidance to define, develop and maintain the organization's data privacy and information security programs in order to enable consistent, effective privacy practices and minimize risk, ensuring the confidentiality of protected information including cybersecurity and privacy training and awareness campaigns. Participate and lead US regional data security incident response investigations and remediate them in accordance with the organization's incident response protocols including managing all regional breach determination and notification processes under applicable federal and state laws, participating in global and regional incident response preparedness exercises. Provide advice on new global and regional IT tools and technologies, third-party risk management and contract teams on information security and privacy controls and Data Protection Impact Assessments. Collaborate on global projects and drive regional projects designed to ensure data security and privacy protection principles are applied throughout the data life cycle, including collaborating with information security officers to ensure that security and privacy concerns are aligned. Develop and conduct awareness and training efforts as needed and/or required to increase employee understanding of legal requirements and company policies relating to information security, data classification, data protection and privacy, and data governance/records management. Serve as Regional Data Protection Officer as defined by Group Compliance and Legal.

Qualifications: Must have a J.D. degree. Active Bar license and applicable in-house counsel registrations. Should have 8+ years of experience in a law firm or an in-house corporate law department with a concentration in data privacy and cyber-related issues. Experience in data security incident response and remediation, including investigations and data subject and regulatory notifications. Insurance/Financial Services industry experience highly desired. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and international information security and privacy laws, regulations, and regulatory guidelines including insurance privacy laws, and breach notification laws. Strong knowledge of laws relating to cross-border data transfers. Strong knowledge of third-party privacy and security risk management. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in teams, and the ability to influence through collaboration without direct authority. Strong leadership, project management and consultative skills. Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization, senior management, regulators and other stakeholders and balance and prioritize multiple time-sensitive complex projects across national boundaries and cultures.
