Senior Lead Intellectual Property Counsel Duties: Responsible for the development and guidance of company intellectual property protections and processes, including patent applications, trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights, licensing and research agreements, publications and intellectual property aspects of contracts and agreements. Provides other general legal advice and represents the company in matters relating to intellectual property law.. Drafts and reviews new patent applications targeting technologies across the company's expansive portfolio of products and systems. Oversees in-house docket and drives patent prosecution. Develops the US and international patent portfolio with a strategic mindset. Provides legal support for contracts and trademarks. Performs patentability studies, conducts brainstorming sessions with business leaders and provides actionable analysis. Develops and conducts intellectual property training for various groups across the organization. Develops and drives strategic US and International patent portfolios; provides analysis of competitor intellectual property and landscape analysis. Supports M&A activities as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Typically requires a JD Degree with 5+ years of related experience. JD Degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science. Prefer 4+ years of experience as a registered Patent Attorney as in house counsel or with a national law firm. Detailed knowledge of an engineering discipline(s) and/or software concepts. Highly collaborative and business-minded. Exceptional organizational and planning skills and the capacity to simultaneously handle a variety of complex, sensitive and confidential issues. Strong verbal and excellent written communication skills to drive efficiency with a wide-variety of internal or external partners.
