Director and Assistant General Counsel, Global Data Privacy Legal Duties: Accountable for global privacy legal issues, regulatory filings, M&A and TSA matters, privacy legal training programs, third-party assessments, legal risk management strategies, and legal compliance with data protection laws and regulations. Provide legal counsel and guidance on a wide variety of data protection and privacy legal matters which arise from the operation of a large, complex, geographically dispersed and technology-driven organization. Provide legal advice and guidance on global privacy regulatory compliance topics to 3M s senior leaders, managers and other internal colleagues and clients in the United States and globally (for global projects involving United States) to confirm that current and proposed activities, policies, business practices and transactions comply with relevant data privacy laws and regulations. Carry out the direction and strategy for 3M s Chief Privacy Officer, including providing guidance on applicable privacy laws and regulations, implementation of the program, including company policies and processes covering the privacy and security of personally identifiable information in accordance with global, federal, state and local laws. Manage regional privacy counsels and global privacy business group counsels to ensure the company s compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws and regulations such as the European Union General Data Protection Regulation ( GDPR ), China Personal Information Protection Law and U.S. state privacy and health care privacy laws and regulations. Lead 3M s global privacy legal compliance initiatives. Qualifications: Juris Doctor degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited law school. Member of a United States bar in good standing. Should have 10 years in data privacy law in a private, public, non-profit, government or military environment. In-house experience on the global privacy regulatory compliance framework is strongly encouraged to apply. Preferred Qualifications: Certification from relevant professional organizations, such as the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Working experience in an AmLaw 100 firm and/or Fortune 500 environment in an attorney role is strongly preferred.. Significant knowledge of and experience with GDPR, China PIPL, Brazil LGPD, HIPAA, CCPA and other U.S. state and federal privacy laws. Possesses knowledge of business processes within diverse industries, including, product development and approval, manufacturing, marketing and selling. Advanced understanding of global privacy trends, best practices and legal and regulatory requirements, including GDPR. Understands public policy and life science industry developments, the legislative and liability implications of business decisions. Ability to form solid assumptions and formulate decisions and recommendations from diverse facts and information.
