Employment Law Attorney Duties: Support and advise senior management, human resources and divisions on all areas of employment law and related company policies, including FMLA-ADA, FLSA, Title VII and other laws prohibiting discrimination. Participate in and influence the decision-making process with appropriate clients and stakeholders. Identify and assess legal risks and opportunities within the employment area and advise accordingly. Independently handle legal matters and projects ranging from basic to complex. Recognize when the advice of more senior counsel or outside counsel is appropriate. Ensure that appropriate clients and stakeholders are involved in the decision-making process. Under the supervision of a more senior counsel, handle or participate in the handling of complex legal matters or projects, including managing outside counsel on employment-related litigation. Draft and negotiate employment law documents, including non-compete agreements, separation agreements, settlement agreements, and similar. Work with human resources partners, identify policies and processes that can be standardized or streamlined to facilitate compliance with applicable laws. Develop and help to implement human resources policies and procedures. Conduct and/or advise on compliance-related investigations. Act as a subject matter expert on various critical projects including reorganizations, acquisitions and workforce reductions. Advocate for interests in assigned matters.
Qualifications: J.D required. Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school and admission to the Bar. 5+ years of employment law experience required. Experience in handling employment matters before federal, state courts and administrative agencies. Experience in counseling corporate clients on employment matters. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and succinctly to internal clients. Ability to appropriately prioritize workload, meet prescribed deadlines, and follow through on matters handled. Ability to spot issues and offer effective, practical and appropriate business and legal solutions. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in an in-house legal environment. Capable and at ease working as a team player and independently. Strong attention to detail.
