Privacy Attorney

Privacy Attorney Responsibilities: Responsible for day-to-day management of privacy program and overseeing information governance initiatives with support from colleagues in the company legal department and information governance team, Be responsible for compliance with state and federal privacy laws both in terms of internal operations, and also in connection with new service offerings Provide expert-level legal advice and strategic support on privacy and data usage matters for the firm. Review and update privacy policies and guidelines in accordance with current laws, industry trends and emerging best practices. Develop short and long term strategies for the continuous improvement of Grant Thornton's privacy program. Manage privacy-related incidents. Perform privacy impact assessments and periodic risk assessments. Develop privacy training courses. Review, negotiate privacy-related addenda and develop internal privacy-related templates. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to a State Bar (in good standing). Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP). Should have 6 years experience as a privacy lawyer in a corporate legal department or law firm setting. Proven experience working with training developers and developing training courses. Demonstrated experience in operationalizing privacy legal requirements (ex. CCPA, GDPR) is mandatory. Knowledge of data ethics principles. Excellent writing and editing skills are mandatory. Ability to plan and implement changes impacting the business as a result of emerging privacy laws. Ability to conduct comprehensive incident investigations and reach reasoned decisions.
