Employment Attorney the candidate will work independently and in collaboration with Legal & Compliance and Human Resources to manage employment issues as they arise. Track changes to state laws in all relevant jurisdictions and update policies and employment guides as needed. Advise Human Resources in the investigation and handling of performance and conduct issues. Draft offer letters, consulting agreements, separation agreements, intra-company services agreements, and similar documents. Oversee and address issues in connection with incentive compensation programs (long-term incentive plans, discretionary annual awards, etc.). Direct outside counsel in the submission of visa applications. Provide direction on compensation, benefits, pay equity, DE&I, and wage and hour issues. Supervise outside counsel when engaged in employment and litigation matters; supervision will include the development of budgets, direction to counsel on the performance of work, and translating advice into action. Prepare templates, policies, and processes to comply with employment laws and regulations.
The candidate should have a J.D. from an accredited law school; membership in the New York State Bar or the ability to register as in-house counsel in New York. Should have 4-6 years of employment law experience. Substantive knowledge of employment law in multiple U.S. jurisdictions. Consistent accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work. Experience drafting employment agreements and other employment-related documents. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and PowerPoint. Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize assignments, and meet critical and established deadlines; ability to manage multiple assignments and transactions simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and to use discretion in the performance of daily activities. Ability to learn quickly and demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a high-performance team. Flexibility and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and constant interruptions. Ability to adjust priorities in a changing environment. Prior experience in an in-house legal role or close client contact while in a law firm role is preferred.
