Corporate Counsel - Mexico Regional Counsel Duties: Provide advice and support to the Business on a daily basis concerning legal issues. Draft, review, and supervise the filing of timeshare project registrations with appropriate governmental agencies in multiple jurisdictions and prepare amendments to keep registrations current for all such timeshare projects. Advise, design and support the creation of new timeshare programs and products for the Region. Advise personnel regarding marketing and sales activities within the Region. Manage and oversee the drafting, negotiation, review and management of leases, contracts, and other relevant documents as assigned to support the Business in the Region. Retain and supervise outside counsel and manage outside counsel legal budgets. Advise and support personnel as requested regarding all aspects of management and operation of resorts and operations within the Region. Advise and support personnel as requested regarding feasibility, asset management, financing and entity structuring within the Region. Advise and support personnel on project matters within the Region. Advise and assist personnel with monitoring and lobbying with respect to new legislation impacting operations in jurisdictions within the Region. Support personnel on environmental and other regulatory matters and requirements in the Region. Work collaboratively with attorneys in other offices and practice areas in providing legal advice over a broad range of issues in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Coordinate with the Corporate Secretary's Office and personnel on corporate compliance matters and produce inter-company documentation as required by the Finance & Accounting Team, Tax Department or other personnel. Provide such other support as may be required from time to time.
Qualifications: Excellent academic record with a law degree from an accredited law school in either Mexico or the United States. Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state. Should have 7 years of experience in a well-regarded law firm or comparable corporate environment. Broad base of legal knowledge. Prior legal experience in Mexico is strongly preferred. Corporate, commercial or real estate law experience, with an emphasis on condominium, timeshare, resort operations, consumer protection and contract law. Fully bilingual in English and Spanish and fully conversant in legal terminology in English and Spanish.
