Government Relations Attorney Duties: Serve as a primary corporate representative to State executive, legislative and regulatory branches of government in assigned States. Advocate/oppose laws, regulations and policies favorable/unfavorable to the company and its business units/functions. Develop and cultivate relationships with legislators, executive branch officials, policymakers and government staff. Represent the company in connection with its membership in business and trade associations. Review, analyze and provide recommendations on new and proposed legislation and regulations. Work with the various business units to draft company positions. Participate as a representative of the Office of Legislative Counsel on specific projects and process reviews. Provide legal advice, both in writing and orally, concerning company operations with appropriate supervision from the Legislative Counsel. Facilitate interaction with supervisors and co-workers.
Qualifications: Juris Doctorate (JD) and admission in at least one State required. Previous experience in government, advocacy, or related business activities and working with legislators, government agencies/regulators, and lobbyists preferred. Self-motivated and driven with the ability to work in ambiguous environments. Strong competency in written and verbal communication. Demonstrated history of problem-solving, project management & organizational skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments.
