Compliance Counsel The candidate assists with general compliance and regulatory issues in a dynamic environment. Advises on the risks and opportunities associated with changes in existing operations. Works with external counsel. Monitors the latest developments in several areas of the law associated with consumer financial services. Assists and/or leads various ad hoc projects. Reviews and/or drafting appropriate policies, procedures and related training materials. Researches and organizes relevant statutes and case materials, reviewing relevant articles and cases cited in collection industry publications. Provides assistance to the Training Department on training issues resulting from changes in laws or case law or as needed for compliance purposes. Juris Doctor Degree required. Compliance experience either in-house or in a law firm setting. Should have 7+ years of related experience. Familiarity with federal and state laws and regulations related to consumer credit and collections, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Truth-in-Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Equal Credit Opportunity Act. Prior experience advising an executive team on legal matters.
