Senior Corporate Counsel - Managed Care Contracts RESPONSIBILITIES: Reviews, analyzes, and redlines third-party regional and national managed care contract documents from initial submission through execution and implementation, including contract comparisons and general compensation analyses ensuring contract and other legal documents reflect managed care strategic goals. Works closely with other departments (Medical Analytics/Reimbursement Systems/Revenue Management and operations) to ensure contractual reimbursement and operational terms are consistent with company's policies and procedures. Reviews agreement requests from managed care staff and management clients and determines which agreements are suitable to address clients business goals, including Non-Disclosure/Confidentiality Agreements, Business Associate Agreements, Letters of Agreements, supplier agreements, and settlement agreements. Assists field managed care sales staff by interpreting existing contract language. Performs research of managed care legal issues, including state and federal regulations related to Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs, PPOs, and maintains working knowledge of basic healthcare regulatory requirements. Researches state and federal laws and regulations applicable to contract interpretation issues and company processes. Oversees review of, as requested, contract documents or work product produced by Contracts Analysts/Contract Specialists. Drafts correspondence and provides legal advice relative to contract disputes. Oversees special projects as requested by company internal clients. May manage all middle management of the department and may be responsible for the performance management, hiring, and discipline of middle management within the department.

QUALIFICATIONS: Four-year college degree or equivalent experience is required. J.D. (or equivalent) degree is required. A law degree (Juris Doctor or equivalent) and admittance in good standing to a State Bar are required. Must be entitled to practice law in the jurisdiction where employed. Should have 8 years of related experience. Previous healthcare or other related experience either at a law firm or corporate environment is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft applications and common computer equipment and office hardware. Strong research skills using Lexis or Westlaw. Strong research skills. Ability to work independently as well as be a member of a project team, be self-motivated, manage high volume of work, prioritize effectively, meet numerous deadlines and repeatedly shift between assignments/projects. Ability to manage direct reports with varying professional backgrounds in a manner that elicits strong performance results and increases efficiency. Ability to problem solve and provide guidance to direct reports and other internal company clients.
