Senior Counsel - International Privacy Law The candidate will provide advice on privacy law aspects of projects and initiatives involving personal information of non-US individuals. Provide advice on new privacy laws outside of the US. With the in-country legal teams, identify the legal privacy requirements. Heavy negotiation of privacy provisions in complex vendor agreements in a variety of industries, previous experience with IT contracts a plus. Work on data transfer impact assessments. Work closely with the Employment Law Unit as issues arise at the intersection of employment and privacy law. Draft consents and privacy notices. Support the drafting and execution of Data Transfer Agreements and other documents to permit the transmission of data from one country to another. Advise whether security incidents need to be reported to regulators and/or data subjects. Advise businesses with respect to new initiatives to use Big Data to better serve customers and employees. Provide advice and counsel on legal and regulatory matters having a potential global impact and requiring coordination across regions and businesses. Identify and resolve legal issues through research, analysis, creativity and teamwork. Craft solutions that contribute to global business goals while ensuring appropriate management of legal risks. Stay current on developments affecting privacy law around the world. Work closely and proactively in partnership with internal business partners and outside counsel to identify issues and develop practical solutions. Act as a trusted advisor and partner to Privacy Compliance, Global Government Relations, Global Technology & Operations, and other business areas in developing and advocating positions to advance interests. Keep business partners and colleagues apprised of relevant issues, developments and preventative law measures in data privacy and related areas. Collaborate with colleagues on a global basis to provide advice on the same or other matters in a collegial and coordinated fashion. Communicate frequently with Law Department management on issues and progress of matters in order to maintain effectiveness and to coordinate with those working on other matters. Work with, guide, and manage outside counsel. Represent in dealings with international regulators and policymakers. Demonstrate skills as a creative problem-solver, self-starter and hard worker, with the desire to grow with the position. Demonstrate strong service orientation and collaboration skills. Exhibit detail-orientation, with very good organizational skills and experience in advising business partners. Perform other duties appropriate to the role, or as required or necessary.

The candidate should have a Juris Doctor degree from a top law school. Should have 5+ years of privacy and complex contract negotiations experience at a major law firm and/or in-house legal department, reflecting a record of accomplishment. The ability to practice law in the jurisdiction where the applicant resides. Excellent academic credentials. Exhibit good business acumen. Demonstrate persuasion and leadership skills, especially in the context of the ability to relate to different stakeholders, business partners and colleagues. Possess strong drafting, negotiating and analytical skills. Communicate in English crisply and clearly, particularly when translating legal issues into straightforward practical analysis and advice. Additional language skills a plus. Balance competing demands, multiple deadline-sensitive matters, assessing business priorities. Follow through to ensure advice is acted upon, and that ethical, legal and business issues are raised to appropriate levels. Build collaborative partnerships and alliances, internally and externally. Enjoy challenging assignments; willing to become familiar with new areas of the law. Open to receive coaching and mentoring from management and/or more experienced team members. Willing to build knowledge of the company's structure, operations, products and services, strategic business values, objectives, policies, culture, and regulatory requirements. Willing and able to improve operations, implement effective policies and procedures.
