Senior Counsel, Reinsurance Responsibilities: Manage and negotiate legal aspects of Group ceded reinsurance treaties. Provide comprehensive legal review and analysis of treaty wordings. Collaborate with underwriters to negotiate and finalize treaty wordings. Manage legal aspects of reinsurance collateralization. Provide legal review and analysis and advise business partners on contracts related to commercial transactions, including retrocessions, legacy and run-off operations. Manage outside counsel and internal paralegal support for related transactions. Provide legal support on matters related to legacy and run-off operations. Assist with legal and contractual aspects of LPT processes. Assist with reinsurance dispute resolution and claims matters as required. Assist head of captive legal function with governance of captive reinsurance companies. Research and follow established guidelines to draft legal documents, resolve regulatory inquiries problems and support lines of business for complex and higher risk priority mattersBuild strong relationships with internal business clients and outside parties by utilizing in-depth knowledge of areas of responsibility to resolve legal inquiries and provide effective support for the resolution of issues. Advise senior managers on moderate to high impact legal matters by utilizing legal expertise to assess risk and recommend effective and appropriate solutions. Manage legal projects by defining scope, setting milestones, delegating tasks, tracking progress, and reporting project results to ensure successful and efficient implementation. Contribute to cross-functional decision-making by collaborating with internal partners and participating in multi-disciplinary teams to provide legal expertise and assist with the development of company policies and best practices. Prioritize workload by evaluating urgency of issues and delegating tasks to paralegals to increase efficiency and effectiveness of legal department. Identify potential legal risks and issues by tracking relevant judicial, legislative and regulatory developments and analyzing implications to suggest strategies for organizational response. Develop policies, procedures and training in areas of expertise in order to ensure compliance across the organization. Provide legal advice and support with respect to insurance policy analysis and interpretation on all lines of business. Participate in training and reporting trends and developments to key clients and stakeholders. Collaborate with internal partners in drafting, investigating, researching, and advising with respect to contracts, disputes, compliance, products, laws and regulations.

Qualifications: Doctoral Degree. Admitted to the Bar is required. Should have 7 years of relevant experience. Experience in a full-service in-house legal environment increasing levels of responsibility is preferred. In-house counsel is desired. Preferred Knowledge in Legal and regulatory research methodology; Legal research databases; Insurance regulatory and compliance knowledge; Policies, practices, trends, and information affecting his/her business and organization; and Business and financial acumen.
