Lead Counsel- Mortgage Banking The candidate will provide legal advice and support on new and existing regulatory matters impacting the Home Lending business line. Conduct research and analysis on matters pertaining to various aspects of the mortgage business. Provide legal advice and strategy recommendations. Create reporting for various audiences, including executive leaders and bank regulators. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships within and across business lines at all levels of the organization. Lead complex initiatives with broad impact and act as a key participant in large scale planning. Handle matters that have a significant impact on the Company's operations, strategies, or profitability. Review and analyze complex large scale or long term challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors. Identify and analyze complex legal issues, develop conclusions and make recommendations for issue resolution. Develop and lead implementation of strategic business initiatives, and lead work team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives. Educate, train, and supervise less experienced attorneys within the Legal department. Collaborate strategically with peers, colleagues and mid-level to more experienced managers to resolve issues and achieve goals. Develop relationships with and provide guidance to more experienced leadership, including executive officers, on issues that may present legal, regulatory, compliance, or reputational risk to the Company. Partner with business leaders and management of other corporate departments to develop and implement risk management programs.

The candidate should have 5+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, and education. Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States. Experience providing legal advice and support on new and existing regulatory matters impacting the Home Lending business line. Legal experience practicing in mortgage banking originations. Experience interacting with federal financial services regulators and enforcement agencies. Experience as a practicing attorney. Experience analyzing legal and regulatory issues in area of practice and provide effective counsel to clients on complex legal matters. Experience advising clients on business issues and risk impacts in connection with new and existing complex consumer lending regulations. Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills. Ability to think independently and provide a credible challenge. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a complex environment with a high degree of collaboration.
