Counsel - Global Litigation and Investigations Responsibilities: Identifying, assessing, and managing litigation risk in all aspects of the company's business, including new product and technology development, M&A and JV activity, and commercial contract negotiations. This includes counseling and/or partnering with other members of Legal and Compliance Organization, including commercial, IP, and M&A counsel, to advise business stakeholders on litigation risk to inform strategic business decisions. Manage offensive and defensive investigations, litigation, and pre-litigation matters, while collaborating with outside counsel when needed to cost-effectively resolve matters. This includes managing all aspects of these matters, including strategy, early case assessment, settlement analysis, budgets, discovery, and staffing. Raising lessons learned from investigations and litigations and working with cross-functional teams to address and mitigate risk for the company.
Desired Qualifications: Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school and currently admitted to practice law in one or more US jurisdictions. 4-6 years of experience in IP litigation at a top-tier law firm. Experience with complex investigations and general, commercial, and/or IP litigation in state or federal courts. Experience interviewing (or deposing) individuals in both fact-finding and oppositional settings. Experience counseling on contract terms related to dispute resolution and IP protection. Ability to assess litigation risk, engage in early case assessment, and leverage strategies for cost reduction and pre-litigation dispute resolution. Ability to work both independently and within a team to manage litigation and conduct investigations, and ability to gain the trust of business stakeholders to achieve the desired objective. Bonus Qualifications: Substantive trial, arbitration, and/or adversarial administrative proceeding experience. Previous in-house experience (preferably at a technology company with global operations). Experience conducting M&A IP due diligence assessments for divestitures and acquisitions. Understanding of computer and digital forensics. Fluency in multiple languages.
