Manager and Counsel - Employment Law The candidate will provide rich work experiences and opportunities for professional development. Recognize and reward those who drive and deliver results. Advise and support American Express Human Resources and business partners on employment law issues, policies, communications, and procedures. Manage employment litigations and arbitrations. Handle DOL wage and hour issues, employment-related government investigations, and agency charges, including drafting position statements. Review company communications, including HR policies from an employment law perspective. Respond to employment-related charges from federal, state, and local administrative agencies (e.g., EEOC, DOL, etc). Draft employment-related documents (e.g., releases, agreements). Research and analyze various employment law statutes, agency regulations, and case law. Should have 4+ years of employment law practice in a law firm or in-house corporate legal department. Bachelor's degree and J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; qualified to practice law in New York. Should have excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to work independently. Must possess excellent writing skills. Litigation and arbitration experience preferred. Should have the ability to manage and prioritize competing demands while maintaining a high attention to detail and meeting deadlines; ability to build relationships and partner with others to drive results; ability to pivot appropriately when challenged with new information or evolving circumstances.
