Associate General Counsel, Employment and Labor The candidate will advise and counsel on any and all employment and labor law issues, including labor litigation. Evaluate employment practices, policies, and processes to assess and execute priorities, and ensure compliance. Develop systems and processes to handle all employee legal concerns from start to finish. Guide and review investigations, make final determinations and serve as the executive decision-maker on labor matters. Provide legal counsel to both Executives and People leadership on total compensation sales commission plans and overtime pay for both exempt and nonexempt employees. Identify where we need to change or improve global contractors' structure and relationships. Design and plan the legal process in ways that avoid and reduce spend on agency and external resources. Manage outside counsel on labor and employment matters when necessary. Develop and conduct training and education programs for employees. Draft and proactively review employment-related agreements and templates. Conduct audits, and classification reviews, and support other compliance efforts.

The candidate should have 8 years of experience in practicing both inside of law firms as well as in-house, corporate environments. Experience working inside of a startup environment (50-5,000 employees). A JD from an accredited law school, and a member of the State Bar of Arizona in good standing. Expertise in evaluating business and organizational needs and advising both business and technical teams on employment and labor best practices. You bring prior experience advising on progressive employment law development in states like California, New York, Colorado, etc. Familiarity with creating employment legal processes or systems, such as labor investigations or contingent workforce legal management plans, with limited resources or guidance. Proactive approaches to solving problems and developing solutions. The collaborative mindset with comfort in leading group projects. Frequently communicate and partner with both in-office and remote, distributed teams. Confident presentation skills, able to convey concise information to stakeholders and executives in meetings. Always provide a clear recommendation and speak up to highlight legal criteria or considerations to leadership and stakeholders. Strong written and communication skills, able to write and speak with ease, simplify complex legal concepts and legalese for other audiences.
