Associate Corporate Counsel, AWS Legal The candidate will support AWS's public sector sales teams by negotiating, drafting, and advising on a wide range of procurement, technology licensing, and compliance matters involving U.S. State and Local Government and Education customers. Typical transactions range from standard contracts to complex, high-dollar-value strategic enterprise agreements, framework agreements, and responses to requests for proposals and quotes. This candidate will also support innovative programs aimed at modernizing government and helping to solve real world issues faced at the state and local levels. The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. Compensation will be based on experience and includes equity compensation. J.D. and admitted to at least one state bar. Must have 3+ years of public sector legal experience. Knowledge of U.S. government procurement processes and contracting laws, rules, and regulations. Experience engaging with U.S. government contracting officials, system integrators, prime contractors, and resellers. Experience in-house at a technology company, law firm, or government agency advising clients in the government contracting or technology industry. Experience as a legal advisor to government procurement officials (particularly at the State and local government level). Experience and knowledge of student data privacy frameworks including COPPA, SOPIPA, and FERPA. Experience in reviewing and negotiating legal terms of a broad range of enterprise technology commercial contracts. Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, even in ambiguous situations. Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams. Strong written and oral communication skills.
