Corporate Counsel The candidate receives and reviews company legal disputes, including employment-related litigation and administrative claims. Researches complex disputes, including providing legal responses, evaluating litigation costs, developing litigation strategies, and overseeing the resolution of disputes. Responds to state and federal complaints while working with outside counsel on pleadings, discovery, motions, mediations, and trials and providing recommendations on further litigation or settlement. Conducts internal and external investigations and responds to formal complaints and charges. Provides in-depth legal advice and strategic support to internal clients on employment law issues related to recruiting, hiring, reorganizations, compensation, benefits, diversity programs, employee classifications, and other employment-related matters. Drafts and reviews employment documents, including contracts, policies and procedures, and non-solicitation letters. Develops litigation tools, oversees the matter management system, and ensures activity reporting is presented to senior management. Retains and manages outside counsel, oversees strategy, reviews invoices, and manages deadlines. Solutions require analysis and investigation. Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience. Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff. Should have a BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. An advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines. Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Extensive experience representing clients in employment-related matters, including EEOC claims, class action litigation, and related disputes. Proven experience counseling individuals and entities on emerging issues related to labor and employment law.
