Counsel - Intellectual Property The candidate will provide comprehensive intellectual property legal services to one or more Business Divisions or Functional Departments. Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications. Draft, negotiate, and advise on IP-related agreements, letters, forms and other legal documents, and provide creative and practical legal solutions to meet commercial needs. Assess and advise on liabilities, legal restrictions and risks of third-party IP rights and proposed IP transactions, including the preparation of freedom to operate opinions. Assess and advise on possible infringement of IP rights by third parties, and support IP-related litigation and dispute resolution. Use and manage outside legal counsel as necessary. Promote compliance by the Business Divisions and Functional Departments with applicable laws and regulations and with policies and procedures. Follow instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor. The complete company required training. Participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
The candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a similar field. A JD from an accredited University. Should have 3 - 5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience. Qualified to practice law in at least one state in the US, with a current State Bar License. Registered as Patent Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Proficient with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs. Ability to give pragmatic legal advice. Strong commitment to integrity and professionalism. Exceptional communication skills.
