Litigation Counsel The candidate will manage all aspects of coverage litigation including selecting and supervising outside counsel; reviewing all pleadings, motions, and other papers; coordinating discovery responses, and preparing Company witnesses for deposition and trial testimony. Work with other Company employees and outside counsel on all appeals in all jurisdictions. Provide prompt and thorough coverage opinion on topics such as the duty to defend, the duty to indemnify, named insured issues, the application of exclusion, choice of law and other matters involving long-tail toxic tort asbestos and environmental claims. Coordinate dispute and litigation management with internal business partners and other lawyers to ensure consistency with business operations, strategies, and goals. Provide clear, practical, and strategic advice and reports in a timely fashion. Communicate with senior Brandywine management on matters of significance, both in writing and in person. Provide training to internal business partners on a wide variety of insurance coverage, compliance and litigation-related topics. Should have 7 years of commercial litigation experience with law firm and/or insurance company. Substantial experience in insurance coverage, general insurance litigation, and/or extra-contractual disputes will be a plus. Excellent analytical and communication skills; superior writing ability. A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited United States law school. Undergraduate degree from an accredited United States or foreign university or college. Strong academic record. Licensed to practice law in the United States.
