Corporate General Counsel The candidate will oversee all litigation and compliance matters. Oversee and manage all company legal activities. Draft, review, and negotiate contractual agreements, including construction contracts, subcontractor contracts, purchase orders, and supplier agreements. Review and advise on contractor issues, including construction bonds, delays and damages, penalties, insurance, liens, contractual obligations, and interrelations with third parties. Review, negotiate, and advise legal and operations teams on construction contracts and best practices. Research and counsel executive team and senior management on a variety of legal and regulatory issues; providing training to operations teams on current legal topics. Multi-task on various contract issues, claims and/or litigation, and general advice. Develop and implement sound contract management and risk assessment policies. Manage the implementation of best practices with respect to operations, contracting, and procurement. Should have a law degree from a fully accredited university. Licensed in Illinois. Should have 5+ years of relative experience in a large law firm setting, or in-house with a mid-size or large company. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of statutes, rules, and regulations pertaining to the business. Proficient understanding of business sensitivities and confidentiality. Risk management/dispute resolution management experience is also a plus.
