VP, Assistant General Counsel - Card Collections Litigation Duties: Partnering with the Card and Auto lines of business to evaluate, implement, and improve consistent and strategically-sound Collections Litigation practices and procedures. Partnering with the business and corporate function groups (e.g., Compliance, Risk, Controls and Audit) to provide in-depth analyses of changes in law and assisting in the evaluations of the possible effects of the changes to business processes or procedures. Assisting in reviews and revisions of policies and procedures. Evaluating, defining, and drafting collections litigation strategies and business processes. Managing and interacting with outside collections litigation counsel in all jurisdictions across the country, including providing strategic direction. Partnering with the legal oversight group in supervising outside counsel. Overseeing the contents and execution of sworn documents used in collections litigation. Directly overseeing and solving escalated collections litigation issues.

Required Qualifications: J.D. from ABA accredited law school. In compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment. Knowledge and experience handling bankruptcy matters is a plus. 5+ years of litigation experience. Experience with state and local rules of civil procedure. Advanced legal research skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to drive complex projects. Team player who can collaborate within the Legal Department, control partners, and with line of business personnel of all seniority levels. Ability and willingness to present to senior business and legal leaders and stakeholders. Analytical thinker who is independent and a self-starter. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. Strong sense of honesty and ethics as an officer of the court. Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of FDCPA and related debt collections laws, as well as familiarity with TCPA, SCRA, UDAAP, FCRA, and the Bankruptcy Code. Experience handling a wide range of litigation from small matters to multimillion dollar cases. In-house legal experience, including working with Risk Management, Compliance, and Audit.
