Real Estate Counsel The candidate will represent the company in all aspects of our real estate transactions. Counsel, and strategically collaborate with, business partners on all real estate matters. Minimize risk while achieving the Company's business goals. Skillfully draft, review, and negotiate all leases and related legal documentation such as modifications, terminations, and subleases for new and existing facilities. Skillfully draft, review, and negotiate vendor contracts such as brokerage, architecture and construction agreements. Monitor critical lease deadlines such as termination and renewal options and collaborate with business partners to execute real estate strategy. Assist with management and resolution of disputes with landlords including litigation and arbitration when necessary. Supervise, train and mentor staff and supervise outside counsel. Manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Draft and revise company policies and procedures relating to real estate and leases. Assist with and lead other matters and projects as needed and as they arise. Should have a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Admitted to California State Bar or eligible to register as in-house counsel. Proven understanding of real estate law. Outstanding academic record with 5 years of a top-tier law firm or in-house legal experience (public company and automotive experience a plus). Excellent attention to detail, legal research and writing, communication and project management skills. Process-oriented, able to multitask, team player and able to work independently with limited oversight. Good judgment, keen diplomacy, and strong interpersonal skills. Organized, resourceful self-starter with excellent problem-solving capabilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint. Strong work ethic, a desire to learn and excel, and a positive attitude. Strong leadership abilities, including management of junior employees. Occasional travel may be required domestically or internationally.
