Assistant Corporate Counsel The candidate will provide oversight to Legal Department under supervision of General Counsel. Provide guidance to executive team on a variety of matters. Train and oversee paralegals, junior staff, and other support staff. Act as internal escalation point on a variety of legal matters. Legal research as needed on a variety of topics. Projects as assigned by General Counsel. Represent company in all CO-filed lawsuits, small claims matters, and BBB arbitrations. Manage all law enforcement contacts, warrants, criminal cases related to Threats, act as main law enforcement contact. Manage all subpoenas received and prepare associated responses. Supervise all litigation matters and paralegals associated with litigation matters. Review/revise all litigation filings before court submission. Lead/manage all specialized litigation matters in contentious jurisdictions. Manage outside counsel project and relationships with outside counsel, monitor all incoming legal invoices for compliance with quoted matters and fee ranges, control cost of outside representation through on-going monitoring. Provide ongoing business intelligence/analysis to senior management concerning claim types, associated internal hours, associated outside legal fees, and other business metrics as requested by senior management, make recommendations inter-departmentally to minimize legal claims based on business intelligence feedback. Manage/settle/oversee TCPA matters internally with minimal consultation with outside law firms. Monitor/Manage online mentions/social media references for possible litigation and class actions, coordinate response with General Counsel and Marketing. Oversee Class Action Lawsuit Claims on behalf of the company, including all claim submissions and tracking. Review Litigation Hold Letters and oversee Litigation Hold process. Supervise 3-5 paralegals and/or legal support staff.
The candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree and J.D., attorney licensure in Colorado. Should have 3-5 years of attorney experience. Excellent legal writing skills. For the corporate-focused position - experience in private practice relating to corporate law, experience in an in-house legal department, with the most important and relevant experience being in the areas to be covered by this position. Work in a fast-paced environment, controlling multiple projects simultaneously. Integrity, high standards, and high-quality work are of utmost importance. Structured, organized and efficient work. Flexibility and a desire to learn new areas as needed. An ability to strive for constant, long-term improvement. An ability to work successfully in a remote environment.
