Corporate Legal Counsel The candidate provides corporate legal advice and guidance to corporate departments and branch offices. Guides corporate office departments, affiliated companies and branch locations, on corporate legal matters, contract review and negotiation, document review, drafting of legal documents and various research projects. Participates in regulatory, licensing and compliance activities. Conducts complex legal research on specific legal questions ranging from state-specific to national searches. Provides research and guidance to branches and functional departments on any actions necessary to keep the companies compliant with new statutory and regulatory requirements. Provides specialized legal assistance in one or more of the following subjects: cybersecurity, strategic analytics, bankruptcy, licensing, human resources, litigation holds and SEC requirements and filings. Reviews and drafts real estate documents relating to new and renewal leases on a company-wide basis. Works with outside counsel and coordinates outside litigation matters as necessary. A Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school. License to practice law in the State of Iowa. Should have 4 years of experience in a legal capacity with corporate legal experience. CPCU designation preferred. Strong knowledge in torts, contracts, real property, employment and general corporate law. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Good presentation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work under strict deadlines. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Proficiency with computers and computerized legal research. Occasional travel; a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards is required if traveling.
