Assistant General Counsel - Employment Law

Assistant General Counsel - Employment Law Duties: Counsel HR professionals, executives, and people managers on a broad range of employment law issues, including hiring, compensation, promotion, performance management, disability and religious accommodations, leave, corrective action, reductions-in-force, terminations, severance pay, and employee relations policies. Use employment law expertise, good judgment and common sense to develop creative, effective solutions to often complex employment problems, issues and challenges. Provide guidance to employee relations staff managing ER workstreams on a day-to-day basis. Investigate employee complaints of violations of policy or applicable law. Activities will include interviewing witnesses, gathering and reviewing relevant documents, analyzing and synthesizing the information gathered to determine the facts, assessing witness credibility, preparing a concise investigation report, making recommendations to management for remedial action, updating the case tracking system and assisting with reporting and analytics. Develop and facilitate interactive, scenario-based employee relations training and other briefings and communications for people managers and other employees. Proactively identify enhancements to employment law processes and practices.

Qualifications: JD degree or equivalent experience. 5-7 years of relevant employment law experience. Experience advising, counseling and making recommendations to management on a broad range of HR related matters. Detailed understanding of federal, state & local employment laws. Advanced workplace investigations skills. Flawless objectivity and integrity. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to influence. Strong work ethic. Sound legal judgment. Creative problem solving. Ability to manage multiple matters on a timely basis. Collaborative & collegial in working with others; calm demeanor. Proactive identification of employment law issues and risks.
