Assistant General Counsel, Litigation Job Description This position will be primarily responsible for handling client disputes and litigation matters, as well as monitoring legal spend. The individual will interact with the business side to identify areas in which processes can be implemented to avoid disputes. This position will work closely with the General Counsel and Associate General Counsel, as well as outside counsel. Responsibilities - Working with **Company**'s legal team, outside counsel, and other key stakeholders, manage various commercial- and client-related litigation matters throughout the litigation lifecycle, to include new matter case intake, compliance with discovery obligations, internal case tracking and case file management, interactions with insurers on covered claims, settlements, and file closure. - Manage outside counsel on complex litigation matters. - Manage responses to demand letters, discovery requests, subpoenas, garnishment orders, domestic relations orders, warrants, civil investigative demands, and requests from governmental and law enforcement agencies and the systems and processes needed to support said responses, including legal holds, searches for relevant documents and materials and document retention. - Monitor legal developments and identifying evolving liability and risk along with reviewing, drafting, and negotiating settlement agreements. - Assist and lead efforts in creating, improving, and developing scalable processes and procedures related to the handling of litigation matters for a rapidly growing company. Qualifications - Juris Doctorate (JD) is required - Must be licensed as a practicing attorney in good standing in state where practicing. - At least 6 years prior legal experience required; an ideal candidate will have 6-8 years total experience practicing law with a combination of experience in a law firm (preferably Am Law 100 firm) and as an in house attorney as a litigation attorney. - Ability to work effectively within a demanding, deadline-driven environment - Positive client service attitude and creative and practical approach to negotiating and resolving issues, demonstrating good judgment and the ability to be flexible and adaptive - Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or as a member of a team required. - Experience in directing strategy and managing complex litigation cases. - Experience working in-house at a professional services company (preferred) - Capable of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously and effectively to completion - Detail orientated with strong organizational skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Ability to be flexible and adaptive to changing business needs - Ability to think strategically and collaboratively Salary & Benefits The salary for this position is $21297.
