#Litigation Counsel @ BSI Financial Services BSI Financial Services is looking for a Litigation Counsel to join their team. The position will be responsible for managing litigation, providing day-to-day management of the Legal Department, and assisting with GSE loan litigation where needed. The ideal candidate should have 2-5 years of relevant legal experience in the mortgage industry, extensive knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, direct or supervisory litigation experience, and a J.D. degree and license to practice law. ##Responsibilities * Provide legal advice and service by combining skill in litigation with sound business reasoning and knowledge of objectives of the company or assigned business units. * Supervise and actively direct outside counsel. * Work closely with investors, GSEs, and outside counsel to ensure adherence to regulatory policies and client objectives. * Use business and legal judgment to balance an appropriate level of risk against the business needs in a particular situation. * Draft/review discovery, settlement agreements, pleadings, subpoenas and briefs. * Analyze legislation that impacts the company and assist the company in responding to inquiries from government agencies. * Prepare and manage a litigation budget. * Plan, guide, and provide counsel to and/or oversee the performance of legal support staff. * Help to ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws impacting the mortgage servicing business. * Create policies, procedures, documents, letters and other materials as necessary to ensure that compliance directives are communicated and implemented across BSI; * Provide legal advice and guidance to operations as needed. * Be responsible for meeting legal requirements and following internal policies * Review escalated complaints received by the Complaint Resolution Unit and revise drafted responses as appropriate; facilitate communication between the business and state consumer affairs or licensing agencies with regard to such complaints. ##Qualifications * 2-5 years relevant legal experience in the mortgage industry - in-house experience preferred. * Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws impacting mortgage servicing, such as TILA, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, RESPA, the Fair Housing Act, the Homeowners Protection Act, predatory lending laws, state foreclosure laws, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. * Direct or supervisory litigation experience, preferably in default servicing, including foreclosure and REO-related matters. * A high degree of professional ethics, integrity, and gravitas. * Able to provide outstanding client service in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and to work collaboratively with colleagues of all levels. * J.D. degree and licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one state/jurisdiction in the United States. * Superior legal research, drafting, writing and organizational skills. * Ability to read and accurately interpret state and federal regulations. * Ability to develop sound legal strategy and to engage in proactive strategic thinking. * Problem Solving/Analysis. * Time Management. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. * Teamwork Orientation. * Ability to multi-task & prioritize effectively and efficiently * Organizational skills and ability to handle confidential material * Ability to identify issues and create resolutions quickly ##Compensation BSI Financial Services offers competitive market wages, a full benefits package to include medical, dental, and vision, 100% company-paid life insurance and disability coverage, a 401K with company matching, 17 days PTO (increases with tenure), and 9 company paid holidays.
