# Senior Counsel Intellectual Property - Patents Carbon is searching for a Senior Intellectual Property Counsel to lead a variety of legal matters relating to intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyrights, and confidential information (IP). Reporting to the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing, prosecuting, analyzing, and strategizing the company's worldwide patent and trademark portfolios. ## Requirements The Senior Intellectual Property Counsel will have a law degree (JD or equivalent) with excellent academic credentials, and be licensed to practice in the state of California, or licensed in another state and registered as In-House Counsel in California. The position also requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant intellectual property and legal experience, including at least 3 years of in-house experience with a high tech or medical device company. Mechanical engineering, material science, and software experience is preferred. ## Responsibilities The Senior Intellectual Property Counsel will be responsible for: - Providing legal support for IP protection worldwide, including oversight of the company's global patent and trademark portfolios. - Conducting patent searches and analyzing patent positions and prosecution strategies. - Establishing, administering, and patent submitted ideas program. - Overseeing the patent committee process. - Establishing and maintaining employee training relevant to IP management, importance of IP protection and trademark and patent programs. - Docketing and tracking patent and trademark related deadlines. - Interfacing with and managing global external patent and trademark counsel. - Working closely with the R&D, Engineering, Materials, and Operations groups to advance new product development activities and protect intellectual property interests. - Providing input on negotiating and drafting software, technology and IP related agreements. - Assisting with IP litigation as needed. - Ensuring compliance with company policies, legal, and regulatory requirements. ## Salary The salary for a Senior Counsel Intellectual Property - Patents is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Law degree (JD or equivalent) with excellent academic credentials and a license to practice in the state of California, or licensed in another state and registered as In-House Counsel in California
