Patent Litigation Counsel
The candidate will manage lawsuits and third party disputes involving intellectual property issues, focusing mainly on patent disputes but including other areas such as trademark and copyright. Will partner with outside counsel and be very involved in litigation matters, including drafting pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and motions, taking and defending depositions, and attending and participating in mediation and hearings. Work closely with various legal group members having substantive knowledge relevant to particular disputes. Partner with outside counsel to take an active role in litigation and third party disputes, determining dispute resolution strategies. Draft pleadings and discovery requests, take and defend depositions, and develop the infrastructure required to prevent disputes from arising.
The candidate should be licensed to practice law in California. Undergraduate degree in computer or electrical engineering or computer science is preferred. Must have 3 years of broad based litigation experience, including intellectual property and technology matters. Should preferably have 10 years of relevant work experience. USPTO admission is preferred. Experience with strategically addressing legal complaints, writing re-exams, and experience with (and understanding of) the online industry is desired. Demonstrated ability to draft pleadings and motions and take and defend depositions is preferred.
