Connecticut - Tax Practice Leader

Glastonbury CT Tax Practice Leader
The candidate will be responsible for the delivery of a full range of tax services for multiple clients in a wide variety of industries. Responsibilities include: interacting closely with clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise; developing and managing staff; working closely with partners and staff on client management, practice development and business development activities; and formulating and delivering innovative tax planning and tax savings strategies. Lead the tax practice of 5 professionals to service clients. Coordinate all tax compliance and consulting engagements with service teams in a wide variety of industries; provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients. Support the partners in business development activities including marketing of tax-planning strategies for clients, networking with key influencers, and participate in the new client proposal process. Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on tax projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews. Conduct secondary/final review of complicated or complex income tax returns including Corporate, S-Corp., partnership, and individual clients. Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively. Consult, work with, and service client to make recommendations on business and process improvement and serve as a business advisor to client. Manage the annual service line budgeting process for the office and monitor group performance against budgeted / forecasted metrics. Contribute significantly to the growth expectations for the tax service line and work with the New England Cluster tax leadership to execute on strategic plan.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA, Master's in Taxation, LL.M. in Taxation, or J.D. degree also required. Must have 8+ years of progressive federal tax consulting and/or compliance experience in public accounting or a combination of corporate and public accounting experience. Experience in Corporate, S-Corp. and/or Partnership returns is required. Superior analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills with proficiency in US GAAP, tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, consolidated federal tax returns, partnership returns, and combined state tax returns are needed. Should have computer expertise including knowledge of tax software and technology.
