The candidate will be responsible for the management and oversight of law firms that perform foreclosure, bankruptcy, eviction and collections work on behalf of bank's default operations (including the mortgage, credit cards, unsecured lending and retail banking businesses), with the primary responsibilities of on-site auditing of law firms, including all pre- and post-audit preparation and reporting, and working with the chief counsel of the attorney networks legal team to develop and execute upon controls which will assist bank in both managing the law firms and minimizing risks associated with the work that they perform. Will travel to law firms throughout the country to meet with senior leadership of the firms, to conduct robust reviews of their processes, practices, policies and procedures, to review files for compliance with applicable law, and to provide recommendations regarding law firms and report to bank default senior management, legal and compliance.

The candidate should have a J.D. degree, license to practice law in any state and in good standing with the State Bar. Must have 5+ years of experience in a law firm or corporate setting, preferably in the areas of banking, real estate lending and/or consumer finance. Strong working knowledge and experience with state and federal lending laws, state foreclosure and collections laws, and banking regulations are required. Loan servicing, consumer bankruptcy and/or litigation experience are a plus. Should have understanding of current issues impacting financial services with an understanding of legal, compliance and quality control issues.
